Action: Say no to GM LidlSurprises

Please write to Christian Hartnagel, Chief Executive of Lidl UK, to demand the same access to GM-free meat, eggs and dairy products as customers of their German stores.

Lidl wants to win you over with their #LidlSurprises advertising slogan.

One surprise that isn’t welcome is the fact that the animals producing almost all of the meat, eggs and dairy products on sale in their UK stores have been fed GM crops.

More and more people are standing up to say NO to GM in the food chain. But Lidl is not listening to its customers in the UK.

Lidl UK says it is too difficult to find GM-free animal feed. But Lidl Germany has no such trouble. In Germany, non GM-fed poultry and eggs are now the norm. In fact, Lidl Germany is leading the charge having just converted its own brand milk to GM-free.

Lidl UK’s long term strategy – A Better Tomorrow – claims that it “understands its customers expect products that have been sourced fairly and responsibly” and that it will use its influence “to continuously drive positive change“.

It seems that Lidl Germany is doing a lot more to meet this aim than Lidl UK.

Please ask Lidl UK’s Chief Executive to match the standard set by his colleagues at Lidl Germany.

Be sure to let him know that you want to buy non GM-fed here in the UK and will change your shopping habits to get it.
