GM Freeze Welcomes Wales’ GM-Free Resolve
Immediate release (24 Feb 2009)
Commenting on yesterday’s statement on the GM-free policy of the Welsh Assembly Government, Pete Riley of GM Freeze said:
We warmly welcome this statement, which shows that the Welsh Assembly Government is planning for the long term rather than supporting the narrow vested interests of the agri-biotech corporations. A GM-free Wales will provide a clear advantage to Welsh farmers who want to produce quality products in an environmentally friendly way. We would strongly support moves to get legislation to give GM-free zones legal status. We wish this far-sighted policy good luck and will work to ensure that it can be implemented without interference from Whitehall and the pro-GM Government in London.
