Is Roundup safe?
The EC postponed a reassessment of the safety of glyphosate - we need it now
What you can do
Write to your MEPs and ask them to press for the reassessment of the safety of glphosate to be brought forward urgently.
Points to include:
- In November 2010 Commission Directive 2010/77/EU "renew[ed] the inclusion of the active substances" after it "received requests regarding renewals" of many agrochemicals, including glyphosate.
- This postponed until 2015 a safety reassessment of 39 agrochemicals, including glyphosate.
- The growing body of scientific evidence links glyphosate to serious health problems including cancer, birth defects and Parkinson's disease.
- The reassessment of the safety of glyphosate should therefore be brought forward urgently.

This is because personalised letters from constituents are by far the most effective. Politicians are increasingly dismissive of identical letters they receive.

Background to this action
In late 2010 the European Commission postponed for three years a badly needed safety review of glyphosate and 38 other agrochemicals.
GM Freeze believes the scientific evidence is so strong that a fully independent review should be conducted immediately and no GM glyphosate tolerant crops should be authorised as food, feed or for cultivation until its safety has been clearly established.
