Privacy – how we handle your personal data
This page explains how we use any personal information we (GM Freeze) collect about website users, people who subscribe to our e-mail list, join as supporters, order resources or use our services in any other way.
The GM Freeze Information Assurance Policy explains in detail how we ensure that we gather, store and use information about our staff, board members, members, supporters and other individuals securely, fairly and legally.
Visitors to our websites
When someone visits one of our websites (https://www.gmfreeze.org/ and https://donthide.gmfreeze.org/) we collect standard internet log information and details of visitor behaviour patterns. We do this in a way which does not personally identify the visitor. This enables us to gather statistics on such things as number of visitors to the website, most popular pages, how long people stay on the site etc. This information is used to help improve the website and the user’s experience. We also allow Facebook to access some information about how people are using our website, to make our occasional Facebook advertising campaigns more effective. This includes a “targeting cookie” that may be used by other organisations to show you adverts (on other websites) that they believe you will be interested in. Cookies
We use a few cookies on the site (small text files that are saved to your computer) to track anonymous information about visitor habits and usage of the site to use for analytical purposes. The cookies will not store any sensitive information about you. We do not ask for any sensitive data on the site beyond names and email address on certain forms, but even this data will not be stored in cookies.

Supplying personal identifiable information
The information you provide to GM Freeze when contacting us by any means will be stored and used by us in accordance with the Data Protection Act, the General Data Protection Regulations, all other applicable regulations and this policy.
This information may be used for, but is not limited to, purposes such as mailing you GM Freeze publications, administering your support or membership, informing you of our news, events and fundraising activities and other related GM Freeze activities. We aim to keep this information as up to date as possible and ask you to let us know if any of your personal information changes.
We will do everything we can to prevent your personal information from being used illegally.
We store information supplied via the forms on our website in secure WordPress Forminator and Ninja Forms, which can only be accessed by GM Freeze staff or authorised representatives. This does not include your payment details – see below for more information on how we safely process payments. We also store information relating to members, supporters and donors in excel files, saved securely and password protected on our own computers. We use Mailchimp to store and manage our email list. You can view Mailchimp’s privacy policy and terms of use on their website.
Some of the forms we use to allow you to send us information or data use Google’s reCAPTCHA API to avoid mis-use by “bots”. The API collects hardware and software information, such as device and application data, and sends this data to Google for analysis. The information collected in connection with your use of the service will be used for improving reCAPTCHA and for general security purposes. It will not be used for personalised advertising by Google.
We will never pass your data on to anyone except that from time to time we may use third parties such as mailing houses, software suppliers and social media providers to send out information on our behalf. These third parties are only allowed to use the information for the specific purpose for which the data has been supplied and they will be required to prove to GM Freeze that they fully comply with all relevant laws and regulations.
Consent
You will be asked to actively give your consent when signing up to receive information from us. You can contact us at any time to update the information we hold about you or to withdraw your consent for us to contact you. If you do not contact us, we will assume that your consent is valid for a period of five years and will contact you after that period of time to ask if you are happy for us to keep contacting you.
People who are under 18
If you are under 18, please ensure you obtain your parent or guardian’s consent before submitting any personal information to GM Freeze. We encourage parents and guardians to be aware of the activities which their children are participating in and to discourage their children from providing any personal information without adult guidance and consent.
Payments
Payments made on this website are processed through Stripe. Your payment card details are not stored by GM Freeze. You can view Stripe’s privacy policy here.
Security measures
We take the security of your data seriously and the GM Freeze website is protected by a certificate supplied by Let’s Encrypt. However, we cannot guarantee the security of any information you transmit to us and you do so at your own risk.
