GM Freeze webinar series 2025

GM Freeze is plunging into 2025 with a series of webinars exploring different aspects of genetic engineering, from the very basics to the most extreme forms of science. We believe in the public’s democratic right to informed debate and choice over powerful new technologies, as enshrined in international treaties such as the Cartegena Protocol and the Aarhus Convention. We also want to spread the word about international grassroots resistance to GMOs and corporate-controlled agriculture.

Current scientific developments have the potential to completely change our food production systems and natural environments, yet there is little public awareness about what is happening. There have been no public consultations about the more concerning aspects of genetic engineering such as gene drives, the genetic modification of micro-organisms and the combination of genetic engineering with Artificial Intelligence. We’ll be exploring these issues in the months to come.

Join us and a host of experts to find out more.

Tuesday 11th February – Genetic Engineering 101

Get up to speed with the basics:

  • the science;
  • how the regulatory framework is changing in the UK;
  • the likely impact on the organic and conventional sectors.

We’ll also present the context:

  • the global spread of GMOs to date;
  • the resistance to GMOs – both chemical and civil;
  • where power lies in the food system.
