Organisational Membership – Please join us
Would you like to be part of our network of members who share our vision for a responsible, fair and sustainable food system?
Please complete this form if you would like to join us.
You’ll find more information below the form about what it means to be a member and your responsibilities and liabilities.
We would like to join GM Freeze for one year. We understand and agree to the aims of GM freeze and to our obligations as members (see below).
Making your pledge
In becoming a member of GM Freeze your organisation pledges to support a freeze on genetic modification and patenting in food and farming. This means that you are joining the call for a moratorium on:
- the growing of genetically modified plants and the production of genetically modified farm animals for any commercial purpose.
- the import of genetically modified foods, plants, farm crops and farm animals, and produce from genetically modified plants and animals.
- the patenting of genetic resources for food and farm crops.
Rights of Members
As a member of GM Freeze you will be entitled to send up to two delegates to each of our open meetings and to receive minutes. Each member organisation will be entitled to vote at the AGM and in the election of our Management Committee. All members are eligible to stand for election to the Management Committee if proposed and seconded by other members.
From time to time GM Freeze will run projects and activities that members are welcome to join. For details of current activity and how you can contribute, please contact Liz O’Neill on firstname.lastname@example.org.
The liability of members is limited.
Obligations of Members
GM Freeze is a company limited by guarantee and therefore all members of GM Freeze will be liable for the payment of debts and liabilities of the company, as set out in our Memorandum of Association. In the event of GM Freeze being wound down, liability for each member will not exceed one (1) pound Sterling.
Copies of the Articles and Memorandum of Association are available from Liz O’Neill on email@example.com. Members wishing to resign from GM Freeze must give at least one month’s notice in writing, as set out in our Articles of Association. GM Freeze contacts within each member organisation are requested to distribute GM Freeze papers and action alerts internally.
Elections for positions on the Management Committee will take place at each AGM. Each year members will be able to vote for candidates nominated and seconded by two other GM Freeze members.
In joining GM Freeze each organisation is indicating its formal support in those areas where it has specific competence. Each also acknowledges the expertise and authority of the other members in their respective fields. In addition, each organisation supports the overall message of the GM Freeze pledge.
The GM Freeze Management Committee has the right to approve, reject and revoke GM Freeze membership, as detailed in our Articles of Association.
We also offer a £12 minimum subscription to organisations that cannot afford £36.
Please call us on 0845 217 8992 to discuss if you think this applies to your organisation.
