Become a volunteer media activist

Could you help more people to understand why GM is not responsible, fair or sustainble by getting the evidence-based case against GM into your local media?

picture of newspaperLocal papers, magazines and websites have a lot more influence than many people imagine. They are a great way to reach members of the public in your area and we also know that politicians scan their local media to find out what their constituents are concerned about.

GM Freeze would like to see more local media running stories or letters like these on the evidence-based case against GM but we need your help to make that happen.

We’re looking for volunteers who are willing to:

  • write to their local papers

  • comment on local news websites

  • add a local angle to a GM story or GM Freeze campaign

Sometimes we might ask you to add a local angle to one of our press releases. On other occasions, it's more a case of “piggy-backing” on a local story. We can offer lots of guidance and help with the details. You will make a real difference to the campaign for a moratorium on GM food and farming in the UK and gain a better understanding of how to work well with the media.

You don't need any experience, just a good awareness of your local media and enthusiasm for communicating effectively.

If you think you might be able to help in this way, please email Co-ordinator Raoul Bhambral on raoul[at]gmfreeze.org to find out more.
